Human Rights
To some people, this little symbol is just a button on a calculator or even a symbol on a math equation. In fact some use this symbol for the word equation. Make it yellow with a square blue background and now you have the makings of a controversial entity called the Human Rights Campaign.
The controversy really lies in the non-supporters of equal rights for people. Equal rights for the same men and women that protect our families, homes, and country. And I don't just mean military, fire, and police. I mean our neighbors, aunts, uncles, grandparents, parents or even siblings. These people are apart of our communities and deserve the equality that we all share as free market society. Only communist would regulate a business such as marriage. Just think of the revenue that can be generated by such a thing.
In todays society, people get married for the tax benefit or even medical benefit. The rights of families sharing equality amongst other American families should and will be afforded to everyone; just like it was done for poor families several hundred years ago, and African Americans just a few decades ago.
I am embarrassed to admit I didn't know what that symbol meant - good job DJ
ReplyDeleteI found this to be interesting. They have many causes other than marriage. This would be longer if I had to do them all. The link is supposed to go to the page about the logo instead of the store. I knew enough about this to want to research it.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing thoughts. Oh, to ponder...
ReplyDeleteThanks for your reminder D.J. Given that beliefs do not violate another's rights, everyone should be allowed to believe as they choose. It was for this very reason many of our own ancestors came to America--to benefit from a democratic society was it not? Equal rights should apply to all, not only to those the powerful deem worthy. Dictate is defined as: to rule over or make decisions for others with absolute authority, or an attempt to do so. Personal beliefs should never be allowed to dictate the rights of others. I believe we just learned this is called hegemony--accumulating the symbolic power to map or classify the world for others--just plain WRONG!
ReplyDeleteThis is why I like this symbol. It's simple as can be. Blue background meaning harmony and the equal sign for the equality. We have equality, then we have harmony.
